Big News for the Saturday August 7 We have the following racers registered as of Feb 25: Schedule Update Racers, please note the following updates to the previously published tentative schedule: SDRA Members: Kristi Weeks, your Social Events Chairperson has booked a Family Bowling Night at Eastview Bowl for Sat March 20th, 7pm-10pm. Deadline to reserve tickets will be: Mon. March 15th. Jr. Dragster Clinic We are planning on holding a Jr. Drag Racing Clinic on May 8, 2010 at Saskatchewan International Raceway (SIR). The clinics generally run for three to four hours. If there is enough interest, we will run two clinics that day (Morning & Afternoon). The kids will be given classroom instruction to start with, which gave the kids a brief introduction about the Jr. Drag Racing Program, safety equipment, the parent’s role of staying safe while having fun. Then they move onto the track for plenty of hands on training, which includes vehicle components, safety equipment, preparing the car and driver for the run, how the start line works, ET slips, and bottom line “HOW TO HAVE FUN”. The last point could not be emphasized enough, as this is the main goal of this class, is to bring the family to the track together and have fun while doing something enjoyable. Cost will be $150.00 per participant. More details will be released as the clinic date grows near. Here is the 2010 schedule. Please take note that we have moved our June Jet Car Feature back 3 weeks to Saturday June 5. Also we are not holding the Fastest Street Car Race Event this year. It’s being replaced with a Big Bucks Jackpot Race with a PAYOUT that will blow you away!!!! I do not recall any sort of payout or total purse in a Western Canadian Bracket Race. All details of this event will be public in the New Year. For that event it will be a race only, no testing or tuning. SIR is proud to announce that a new state of art Compulink Timing system will be installed in June. We have bought all the bells & whistles. 60, 330, 660, 1000 and 1320 ft .intermediate timers along with 1/8 & ¼ mile mph clocks, Crosstalk, Autostart, Split Tree, Stage Loc and also a Weather Station. There fore we have 9 points races, 2-test & tunes and 13- street legal events proposed for 2010. We have a tentative date for Saturday August 28 for a possible Street Car Race. Watch for details in the new year. Also all the NHRA programs are back onboard for 2010. Tentative dates are as follows: National Dragster Challenge (Wally Race) Sunday September 12th along with the Jr. Dragster Challenge the same day. Aerospace King of the Track Sunday August 8th. Jr. Gold Crown Race July 24 & 25. Land of the Leaders dates are May 30, June 5, July 10 & 11. *** If all goes on schedule for the timing system there may be a test & tune added before the first July double header race so staff can get use to the new system etc. For racers we will have an LED bulb tree.
