May 14 Pictures

Sorry no pictures lately, Lafarge have been filling the control joints. Hopefully Thursday or Friday we will give it all a cleaning and tidy up the startline area from all the mess etc. In the meantime here are some pictures of the work in progress out there also. Doug Morin/Axis Electric has already re-wired the whole tower and is starting to get ready for the Saskpower upgrades. We have a new building by the concession that will house the 400 amp service and the main breaker box. It may have enough room for a cot since both Doug and myself have spent too many hours out there. We are also locating existing wire as you can see from the pictures. We are also getting ready for a separate 200 amp service for the top end for the winboards and new timing system, which we will not have to use generators anymore. Doug has also been wiring the new main gate booth as well.

Also Prairie Steel has also been on site working. There are a few pictures of the bathrooms and souvenir booth that is all being sided in steel to match the concession and tower.

Like always all the normal spring things are under way. I've been working on the concession replacing the serving counters with plywood that will be covered in stainless steel. Chris Kirchgessner and myself have the water up and running. With thanks to Chris Tarasoff and Cam Brewer and his wife, some spring cleaning got done on Saturday. I have also hauled all 14 light towers to the track now and been getting the concession set up as well.

Also Floyd Chapple and son Chris have got the street sweeper ready to come to the track. Also i hear from Moose(Rick Risdale) that our new tractor is at Full Line Ag and both himself and Floyd will have the track dragger on it soon. We also purchased a rotary pick-up broom as well that should make for some faster clean-ups.

This will also be a season of "work in progress" since we also will have to start in July the infrastructure on the new timing system. Doug and myself have close to a mile of 25 pair wire to put into the ground. We hopefully will see some added horns to the P.A. System and maybe some added seating for the fans.

On a side note, Steve Winik held a Jr.Dragster clinic at the track on Saturday in which 9 kids took the course. Hopefully we'll see half take the plunge into drag racing. Thanks Steve.

Otherwise everything seems to be going along quite well. Central/Lafarge should be done (I Hope) by the end of the week and it looks good so far that we should meet our May 30th start. I will have to spend a few days prior to then to drag the new startline with rubber. Our next work day is scheduled for Saturday May 31st. So hopefully we'll see more than 3 people show up.

This week Mrs. Shawn and Rick Hargreaves and myself will also be puting the infareds in at the startline and testing the timing system (old one, no new one till end of year) to make sure its all 100% and running. This is going to cost me shoes for the Mrs. Also Trevor and Delores Hanna will be out as well getting everything in place in the concession (cleaning up my mess).

I'd also like to thank Doug Morin for all his hard work and the few people that showed up on last weeks work day. Also like to thank Trevor Jacek for all his hard work with the bank and also the business plan committee for their input. Also thanks to you Gary for keeping racers and fans updated with all the exciting work going on at SIR. Looking forward to a great year.

Thanks,
Skippy
